Ella was certified at Aqua Safaris Scuba Center in Open Water, Advanced, and Rescue diving and went on to get Scientific Diver certified at UCSC. There she studied kelp forest ecology, more specifically the dynamics between urchin barrens and kelp forests, and kelp reforestation.
